AppleShop: Camping Autumn Fall There Is No Planet B T-Shirt

I never really thought about it before but I guess the one real Karen I had to deal with was back in the late 70s when I worked as a supermarket cashier. I was one of the fastest cashiers the store had, mostly because I would look ahead to the things on the conveyor belt and read the price tags from where I stood. Naturally there were customers watching the prices ring up but thought the price was for the item I was pushing back behind me to the bagging area. Some of them were okay with it and others not so much. Anyway, because my right arm was working nonstop at hitting those keys (LONG before the days of the scanners and plastic bags), I developed severe pain and stiffness in my right shoulder. It started taking me a little longer to ring up groceries. Most of the customers were understanding. However there was one self-entitled woman who stood there, blowing cigarette smoke in my face (yes, smoking in a grocery store was legal back then) and tapping her designer shod foot in impatience. My heart sunk a little because the woman was buying a frozen turkey. A BIG one. There was no way I’d be able to bag the bird without help. I rang it and the rest of the groceries up and proceeded to slowly bag while ignoring her complaints. At long last, only the turkey remained.

I managed to get a paper bag open but couldn’t quite maneuver the turkey in. The bag kept sliding. She was calling me incompetent, stupid, the usual names. I finally explained that I had somehow hurt my arm and could she please help me get the turkey in the bag. I couldn’t help but notice the line behind her. She yelled at me that it was MY job to bag, not hers. She didn’t want her mink messed up. Who wears a mink coat grocery shopping?! As the Front End Manager(FEM) started heading in our direction, the next customer told her to shut up and help. Or get out of the way and They would help. The FEM arrived and the Karen unloaded on her all the poison in she had been dumping on me, demanding I be fired for asking her help! Instead, the FEM bagged the turkey and wished her a pleasant day. I was near to tears by then between pain and humiliation.
