I was in food a beverage Budweiser Pavilion, Boat Tour, Admissions, Admin and finally Payroll. It really was a great place to work for a college kid! My sister worked at Busch Gardens one summer as a tram tour guide. The company gave her a script (complete with bad jokes) to memorize. She didn’t seem to like the job much but she never told me why! I was so upset when they closed it. I would take my mom and daughter there. It was a good memory. Been there many times. Too bad it closed. There were also several Macaws that escaped and roamed around the valley for some time. It was sad to see that park fall into decay before they closed it. I loved this place and was heartbroken when it closed. Began my lifelong love of parrots. Oh yea. We took my aunt there and she got drunk as a skunk! You used to be able to drink as much as you wanted! I remember this for sure…..took both my boys “way long time ago” (both of them are now in their 40’s)………..fun days there for sure. I worked right up the street next to the squadron restaurant. Went to the gardens for free beer all the time. So many great memories at Busch Gardens in the 80’s growing up. Now making memories with my Family over the years. Love all these early years pictures! At that time my friends dad had a nursery business and Busch Gardens was his biggest account. Years later when my friends dad had trouble with his knees they bought him a Honda Trail 50 to ride around the park. While working on it a few years ago I asked which of my friends kids had the bike and told me neither it had been his dad’s at BG. Trivial story. At that time you did not leave the house without being dressed. I graduated in 57 at Leon. We were not allowed to wear jeans to school. The girls wore dresses or skirts. No pants or shorts.
