I had a friend with two GSDs, who each had their own drawers where their toys were kept. My friend actually managed to teach them to put their toys back in the proper drawers when playtime was over. Admittedly, I had a smart oversized Cairn Terrier, who took his toys out of a basket. Try as I might, I was never able to teach him to put the toys back. He would just give me a look that said, “if you want the toys in the basket, then you can darn well put them there yourself.” Playing fetch worked out just about as well. Luckily, his good looks and goofy facial expressions kept him in my good graces. I would hold her like I hold any of my pets- one hand under the chest/sternum, and one hand under her tush/back of her thighs. Since her luxating patellas are on the front of her hind legs, as long as you don’t force her knees to flex too tightly, you can hold her under her hind end without causing a problem. If you need to hold her with just one arm, I would put her tush on your hip/side of your belly, and use the arm on that side to go over her ribs and then under her chest. I think you said your career so, I guess perhaps you’re in a foster home or something? you didn’t say mother and father but, that’s not the main point because, the main point is, first and foremost, dependent upon whoever’s dwelling it is that calls the shots and acceptance of or, experience with pets/animals (dogs,cats anything) what is their attitude towards animals of nature? If they are a stick in the mud (so to speak)and want nothing to do with them then, I would suggest there’s not no hope but,it probably is as close to no hope as you’re going to get. pray for a miracle for their attitude and mindset and acceptance to turn around. if they are accepting of the presence of a pet (puppy or kitten or whatever it may be that you’re considering) then, at your age it’s very easy and you know what, at any age really but,especially at your age,easy to promise to clean up after to walk to feed and all the rest… speaking of feeding,(& veterinary) who’s going to be paying for that? Will it be you or will it be the one who calls the shots at the place you’re living?That’s another important consideration. I would say that, if they are not even willing to listen to the idea and don’t want anything to do with animals around the home then, they’ll likely just forget it. Dogs should clot to stop bleeding pretty quickly. They almost never bleed much unless it’s a serious laceration or puncture wound or worse. With being on her tongue there is also saliva there which might make it look like it’s bleeding more than it actually is. I’ve never experienced a tongue injury so I’m not sure what to suggest as treatment for it. Get her to a veterinarian if the bleeding persists for more than 10 to 20 minutes. If it doesn’t stop bleeding she could possibly lose too much blood. No animal can survive without an adequate amount of blood in their system. There are animal ER’s. In my opinion, especially if the bleeding doesn’t clot (stop), this is one of the times an animal hospital ER should be paid a visit. Expense should not be of concern. Even if she needs sedation and a few stitches or something they can’t squeeze water from a rock. Most vet places work with us and accept payments. I’ve never seen a veterinarian refuse to treat an animal that needs treatment. They do everything they can and worry about the billing and getting paid later.
